BETON HALA WATERFRONT
COMMERCIAL / CULTURAL CENTRE
Sava River, Belgrade, Serbia
45.000m2
INT'L COMPETITION 3RD PRIZE, 2011
Author with Dejan Miljković, Aleksandar Rodić
The design proposed a vast green plateau which enters the base of the Belgrade fortress hill and connects the vegetation from the hill with the concrete row of former warehouses on the riverbank. The warehouses were recently transformed into Belgrade’s highly popular night-life centre. The proposed idea was to expand new commercial content at the riverbank without disturbing the silhouette of the old town. The “green and paved” plateau (slab) with a slight slope towards the river covers the whole complex and gently merges it with the Medieval Belgrade Fortress, city centre and the natural hill beneath it.
